What are sweepstakes?
Sweepstakes are used as an advertising or promotional tactic through which incentives or prizes are given by drawing a winner. Just by playing, you are entered to win.
Are sweepstakes software games legal in my state?
Almost every state in the United States allows Sweepstakes Promotions.
Customers don’t purchase entries into the “game” or “sweepstakes”. Instead, they purchase time on a computer, or in some past cases, long-distance phone time. When customers buy one of those products, they are given free entries into the sweepstakes.
How do I choose the best sweepstakes company to use for my business?
To succeed in sweepstakes, you need a small initial investment - at least $500 used to purchase game points and software with lots of promotional tools and a variety of games. We've put together a guide in an article titled “How to Choose The Best Sweepstakes Software”.
How much does it cost to get started?
It depends on several factors. You can get a better idea by thinking about each of these questions.
How many terminals/computers would you like to have in your store?
One computer costs $300 to set up. The more you decide to have - the higher investment is. If you would like to have a standup in the store - the price range can vary significantly and could stretch into the thousands of dollars for each one.
If you would like to know more details or have a chat with one of our representatives, please feel free to contact us any time at [email protected]. We would be happy to talk with you about your needs and help you estimate your total startup costs.
How much do I pay for the use of your software?
We’ve got some great news for you, our software is FREE. We only charge for the credits that you need to use in our system. We can discuss volume discounts once you get started. There are also no upfront or ongoing maintenance costs. You only pay us as you use the software and when you succeed.
What is the minimum payment for game points?
Point purchases start at $500.
What is the software provider’s commission for providing game points?
Below you can find the turnover/commission rate breakdown. The higher the turnover created - the lower percentage in commissions you'll pay. The commission percentage varies between 12-25% depending on the sales volume you’ve created.
How do I choose the right games?
You will want to choose games that will appeal to your target customer base. We will work with you to ensure that your game library will keep your customers engaged and coming back for more. We currently have approximately 70 games in HD, including a wide variety of styles and themes that will suit any player... and our catalog is always growing!
How do I install your software?
Our software is all internet-based. That means you get the quickest possible setup, which is as easy as setting the homepage on your browser.
Do you have software versions for regulated markets?
While creating the River gaming platform, we have always had to keep on top of legislation in many jurisdictions. So, some software versions were created to customize the system according to your local laws - No Chance/Skill Games and Class II Bingo.
Class II games were built based on Bingo math, but they don't always look like regular Bingo games. In these kinds of games, wins depend on numbers on a Bingo card, which is displayed in the corner of the screen and can be changed any time. These slots follow Bingo’s rules and remain within the law in certain jurisdictions.
Here’s a video showing how No Chance/Skill modeworks

Is Internet-based software better than an in-house server? Why or why not?
We think that internet-based software is superior to having an in-house server in most cases. All our games are web-based, which means you don’t have to house and maintain a server on your own. Our servers are located in the world’s best data centers, with some of the best technology behind them keeping your business online and working all the time.
Are the games hard to play?
No, all the games are relatively easy to play and no special skills are required to play or win.
I already work with a sweepstakes provider. How can I change from one of your competitors to you?
We’ve helped convert many businesses to our system. The best way is to send us an email explaining the specifics of your situation, and we will gladly help you through the process to get your business on the right track. Please email us on [email protected].
Do you offer any type of Customer/Tech Support?
Yes, we have a great Customer/Tech Support Team with the expertise to troubleshoot any issue.
How can this be legal when it looks so much like gambling?
Customers don’t purchase entries into the “game” or “sweepstakes;” instead, they purchase time on a computer, or in some past cases, long-distance phone time. When Customers buy that product, they are provided free entries into the sweepstakes game.
Is the software cross-platform?
Yes! You can find our software works on tablets, cell phones, and desktops. We’re the definition of cross-platform.
How do I continue to earn with River Sweepstakes when the Cafe is closed?
To let your customers play even when the cafe is closed, we’ve crafted promo games which can be downloaded on your mobile phone in the Play at Home Application. Players can be engaged even when they’re not in your store.
How do I succeed in this business?
The vast majority of the United States remains open to the Internet Cafe Sweepstakes business model. The reality is that Internet Cafe Sweepstakes is a booming and thriving industry, particularly when we talk about the Play at Home feature. Like any business, there will always be an element of risk when starting up. However, the risk is minimal because there is considerable potential for a substantial return on your investment. The most critical success factor is creating an environment in which your customers are having a good time and can’t wait to come back to and play again.
